Saturday July 24 th was the final round of the Old Parr Cup and Bill Wilson was again the man to catch and again he was having none of it. After the dust settled Bill had increased his winning total to claim the Old Parr Cup by an astonishing 13 points from nearest rival Rob Colley.
In the day's scramble, the winner of the Horse and Jockey's Golfer of the Week voucher and 4 balls was an excellent effort by Ron Leadbeater with an 86-19-67 and 40 points. One point back and earning 3 balls was John Gillespie, whilst Adrian Joe and Roger Verry both claimed 2 balls for their 38 points. The 37-club this week were Tony Gillies, Paul Wood, Heath Oldershaw, Brent Stewart, Ian Reed and Jayden Lunn, each grabbing a ball. Two ‘s were uncommon with Rex Mason and Adrian Joe picking up a ball each for theirs (Rex's coming on the 8 th hole). And despite many recounts it was established that Ian Taylor had indeed two'd both the 6 th and 11 th to claim 10 balls. The Challenge card hole winner was Ron Leadbeater who picked up the Challenge voucher, and in the (some might say meaningless) whacker of the week rankings, Alex Johnson who's been threatening for some time, made the grade with ease.

Saturday July 17 th saw the second rounds of the Blyth Cup and the Old Parr Cup. In the Blyth, Bill Wilson was the man to catch – and no-one could. For the second week in succession Bill's was the best round of the day meaning he won the net competition by a huge 10 shots, from Rob Colley. Bill's combined total for the two rounds was a14 under par 128. Standings in the Old Parr Cup are somewhat in Bill's favour also with him clear on 34 points, eleven ahead of Rob Colley, who's one ahead of Gerard Cavanagh and Alan Tappin, with just the stableford round to go.

In the scramble, Mr Wilson again took top spot with a +6 finish to pick up his second Horse & Jockey golfer of the week voucher and four balls. Nearest on +3 was Clarke Smith claiming 3 balls whilst on +2 Heath Oldershaw, Paul Wood, Steve Kim and Jayden Lunn collected 2 balls each. A ball for Allan wiles finishing on +1, and there was a ball also for Steve Oates, Kurt Edmonds and Alan Tappin for their finishing all square. Alan picked up a second ball for his two, with John Gillespie claiming the other. Whacker of the week was a shamefully close affair with countback putting Alan Taverner ahead of his peers, and a ball to the good.

The Challenge card winner was no surprise either as Bill Wilson claimed that with a birdie also.

Saturday June 26 decided the final rounds of both the Winter and Lund Cups. Coming through carding a 2-under par 69 was Paul Wood to win the gross (Winter Cup) competition by 2 shots from Alan Tappin. Alan however couldn't be stopped in the net (Lund Cup) contest finishing 4 shots clear of both Brian Parr and Bill Wilson.

In the scramble Adrian Joe played superbly to win the Horse and Jockey Golfer of the week voucher and 4 balls with 41 points. One point back and three balls went to Paul Wood, whilst a step back on 39 were Bill Wilson, Stephen Oates (who??) and Brian Parr, all collecting 3 balls. Jim Murray snuck in by lot to pick up a ball for his 37. Two's and a ball went to Ken Clarke, Adrian Joe and Paul Wood, whilst two balls were claimed by Gary Foy for birdies on the 11 th and 16 th – with the kitty adding another 17 to his haul. The Two Tones two's vouchers were won by Paul Wood and Ian Muir, and the Challenge Card voucher went to Gary Foy, this time for a net 2. The Trac Sports Bar voucher for the month's most consistent golfer was picked up by Alan Tappin. And the whacker of the week came by way of a shocker of round by Ian Muir to find himself three points shy of the field on 21, though he seemed happy enough receiving a ball for his troubles.

This Saturday the course is unavailable, with the Ruth Middleton on Saturday and Sunday, but Saturday the Captain's Shield is on at Walton with tee-times from 9-10am so get over early enough to slot in and do your best for the club!
